Welcome to our Web Site.
For everything you need to know about Whit Friday in Delph.
Whit Week is here everyone!
We are all getting rather excited and extremely busy!
Here are some things that may be of interest to you this week
Please note that we will be allowing bands to march down King Street until Midnight as per last year.
The booking in deadline will obviously be subject to the discretion of Greater Manchester Police as usual, but we will aim to give as many bands as possible the opportunity to play at Delph this year!
Police and Council officials monitoring traffic movement at last year’s event, were alarmed at the speed of some band coaches manoeuvring between the Saddleworth villages. This was particularly noticeable in the vicinity of Brownhill (the junction of High Street, Wool Road and Dobcross New Road at Dobcross).
In view of this they have instructed contests to advise all participating bands to ensure their coach drivers moderate their speed according to the traffic conditions and take extra care when approaching road junctions. They should also be mindful of the need to take instruction from the stewards at individual contests and co-operate with them at all times.
This year’s Official Programme is out now and is available from many local outlets.
If you will not be visiting the contest but would like to purchase a copy of the magazine, please send a cheque for £3.50 (to cover postage) and your details to:-
The Contest Secretary, 30 Ainley Wood, Delph, Oldham OL3 5HL
We are pleased to welcome Steve Jack as our professional photographer this year and we will notify everyone of the avalability of his images as soon as possible
